Real Boston Rams S.C., a new United Soccer League’s PDL Division franchise which has launched in 2013, announced today that they will be playing their home matches at Oliver Ames High School, Muscato Stadium, in Easton, MA. The Rams are excited to have a venue that can seat approximately 1,000 fans .
“Oliver Ames & Easton have a tremendous soccer tradition” President Mike Madden stated “The town of Easton and surrounding communities have a huge love for soccer and is a perfect location to host the Real Boston Rams – PDL team. We want all soccer families east of 495 to Boston consider the Rams their team.”
This relationship with Oliver Ames is a sign that the new franchise is serious about pulling from various communities in Eastern Massachusetts, both ethnically and logistically. With Greater Boston less than a 30 minute commute and the South Coast only 25 minutes travel time, Easton is a market with great potential. “We feel that in order for professional soccer team to thrive and have regularly attended games we need to attract the “international” audience, many of whom grew up with the sport. Greater Boston, Brockton, Stoughton and communities from the Fall River area are booming with soccer enthusiasts. We want to tap into that “passion” and provide affordable entertainment at a family friendly location.” The Rams will offer pre game clinics for youth players, get involved with community outreach and make themselves available to the fans.
Of course the Rams realize that Easton, Canton, Milton, Attleboro, Norton, Mansfield and other South Shore communities also have a passion for the game, “I have been fortunate to be the Director of Coaching and Player Development for Easton Soccer for over 6 years and I have seen the connection the SSSL (South Shore Soccer League) and BAYS (Boston Area Youth Soccer) towns have to the beautiful game. In addition I have been fortunate to be a part of many discussions in all of the surrounding towns about ways to support and grow the game of soccer. We are pleased to offer all our families an additional opportunity to watch soccer at the next level. Of course we all love going to the Revs games but this gives us, as soccer fans, another opportunity to watch the great game!”
