May 8, 2013 – The Real Boston Rams of the United Soccer Leagues PDL have acquired the services of midfielders Andrew Sousa and Ryan Maduro.
Sousa is a 6-foot-1-inch, 23-year-old native of Fall River, MA. Growing up Sousa attended Durfee HS where he served as team captain during his senior year. After high school Sousa attended and played for Limestone College before transferring to Providence College prior to his sophomore year. He ended his PC career with a total of 8 goals and 8 assists in 3 years for the PC Friars. Sousa scored the game winning goal in the semi-finals for the Big East All Tournament Team.
Sousa is no stranger to the PDL having played for the Rhode Island Stingrays and Forest City London during his days in college.
In the 2011 MLS Supplemental Draft, Sosua was selected by the New England Revolution in the third round (42nd overall). He made his professional debut on May 25, 2011, during a game against Sporting Kansas City in the 2011 Lamar Hunt USOC. Sousa went on to make 8 appearances for the Rev’s reserves, scoring 2 goals.
Most recently Sousa played for Portuguese second division club CD Operario.
Maduro is a 5-foot-10-inch, 27-year-old native of Providence, RI. Growing up Maduro attended Mt. Hope HS and was regarded as one of the top players in Rhode Island before enrolling at Providence College in 2004. In 2006 Maduro became only the second Friar to be named a first-team All-American and the first to be named first-team All-Big East. During his four years with the Friars, Maduro appeared in 78 matches and scored 14 goals while assisting on 22 others.
In 2009 Maduro played for PDL side Rhode Island Stingrays. With the Stingrays Maduro appeared in 9 matches and recorded 3 assists. In November 2009 Maduro went on trial with CD Santa Clara of Portugal’s Liga de Honra but he eventually ended up not signing with the club. For the 2010 season Maduro joined PDL club Forest City London.
During the 2011 season Maduro trained with the New York Red Bulls and played for the clubs reserve side in the 2011 MLS Reserve Division. After a pre-season trial with the club Maduro signed with the Red Bulls on March 19, 2012. Maduro made his professional debut New York on May 29, 2012 in a 3-0 victory over the Charleston Battery in the third round of the US Open Cup. For the full schedule please visit www.bostonrams.com
